Story
FareShare North East is a surplus food charity on a mission to get good food delivered to good causes. With the help of their funders, food partners, community members and volunteers, they rescue a wide range of surplus food, that would otherwise go to waste.
In 2022 FareShare North East were able to save over 102 tonnes of food from landfill and deliver enough surplus food to contribute to 2.90 million meals across the North East.
In a year one FareShare North East van will drive an average 26,100 miles, delivering an estimated 910 tonnes of surplus food. Together all eight vans contribute to nearly 2.8 million meals for the North East each year.
Each donation received will be put towards FareShare North East van costs. It may be a donation funds a surplus food delivery from Newcastle to front-line Charities in Blyth, or repairs for a van that is heading down to front-line charities in Redcar. Each donation will play a role in surplus food provision across the North East.
