Story
On May 1, cheered on by my family, I set out to walk the Camino Francés, a pilgrim route from St Jean Pied-de-Port in France to Santiago de Compostella in Spain. I am hoping to make it by early June, and if you would like to put a spring in my step to get me there, please consider sponsoring me.
Money donated will go to Aquabox (www.aquabox.org), a Derbyshire based, volunteer-led charity that manufactures ingenious reusable family and community water filters capable of turning contaminated, polluted water into safe drinking water. Your donation will help save lives.
361,000 children under 5 die every year of water-borne diseases - nearly 1,000 children each day, or one child every ninety seconds. So my choice to support Aquabox feels a fitting tribute to Hannah, our still-born child, in whose memory I walk, carrying a stone in my rucksack from her grave in Derbyshire to Santiago Cathedral, the resting place of St James, the patron saint of pilgrims.
