We are the leading non-governmental organisation in the UK solely devoted to the conservation of bats and the landscapes on which they rely. Everything we do works towards our vision of a world rich in wildlife where bats and people thrive together.

Story

Bats are brilliant, but much rarer than they used to be. They need our help. The things we do to protect and promote bat conservation also helps; birds, bees, butterflies and biodiversity in general.

This is turn makes the world a more beautiful and healthy place for people. We all need a connection with the natural environment to stay physically and mentally well.

We are constantly bombarded with bad news. I want to do something positive in my own small way to “combat” this (excuse the dreadful pun). I love bats and I love being out of doors, so this is my contribution.

My target of £6,420 was chosen to reflect the 64.2 miles of the route (I thought £105 K might be a bit too ambitious!).

All the donations received go to the Bat Conservation Trust to help them with their very valuable work. You can find out lots more at

You don’t have to be batty to run a 100 (and five) kilometre ultra-marathon, but it probably helps!
