Story

Almost a year ago, I watched my husband Gerry run the London Marathon. He got an amazing time and the energy and excitement around London was incredible… so incredible that I thought ‘why not enter the ballot?!’ A week or two later and I felt a bit uneasy about it. I do not run. Actually I don’t like running. I am not fit. I had a baby 6 months ago. What am I doing?? But it’s ok because nobody gets into the London Marathon from the ballot, right? WRONG. So here I am. A total non-runner trying to complete 26.2 miles!

I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be running the London Marathon not just for personal achievement, but also to raise vital funds for The Together Project – an incredible charity dedicated to fostering intergenerational connections and spreading joy through meaningful activities.

Here's why I'm so passionate about supporting The Together Project:

👴👧 Bridging Generations: The Together Project brings together little ones, their grownups and older people in care homes through heartwarming initiatives like Songs & Smiles, Crafting Connections, and We are Friends. These programmes not only create unforgettable moments of joy but also combat social isolation and loneliness among older adults while nurturing empathy and understanding in our youngest generation. My son and I started attending songs and smiles classes when he was nearly 3 months old and we still go now!

🌟 Making a Real Difference: Every pound raised will directly contribute to expanding and sustaining The Together Project's impactful programmes, ensuring that more families/carers and older adults can benefit from the magic of intergenerational connections. Your support will help create lasting memories and meaningful relationships that really do transcend age barriers.
