Cold water dip (swim) · 1 April 2025

In 2025 to 2026, the Mayor of Waltham Forest, Cllr Tony Bell, will fundraise in support of three vital, local charities; Highams Park Food Hub, Haven House and Walthamstow Wetlands. The mayor will continue his efforts to raise awareness of the importance of fellowship and nature. Thank you.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. A group of Waltham Forest women and non-binary Labour councillors are braving the cold on April Fool's Day (how fitting?) to raise money for Waltham Forest Mayor's Charity.

We're going for a cold water dip at the West Reservoir Centre in East London. Experienced open water swimmers will do a proper swim, inexperienced ones will likely scream loudly and swim as much as they can. Wherever you are, listen out - you'll hear us!

Please sponsor us as we brave the cold water to raise money for these two excellent causes - see below. Thank you!!!

The charities we're raising money for

Waltham Forest Mayor's Charity raises funds for local organisations to improve Waltham Forest residents' lives. This year (2024/2025) the Mayor, Cllr Sharon Waldron, is fundraising in aid of two charities:

The Waltham Forest Dementia Hub provides vital support, guidance and resources for individuals living with dementia and their families. It serves as a lifeline, offering practical assistance, emotional support and access to essential services, helping to improve the quality of life for those affected.

The Waltham Forest Dyslexia Society is dedicated to raising awareness, providing support and advocating for individuals with dyslexia. Through education, workshops and resources, it helps children and adults overcome challenges, ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive in school, work and everyday life.

Both charities emphasise education and awareness as crucial in breaking down misconceptions and fostering a more inclusive and understanding community.
