We've been caring for people in Greater Manchester and Cheshire for more than half a century, and we have big plans for the future. We need a new, purpose-built hospice that will serve the needs of our community now and in the future.

Story

Claire and I are planning a big walk and thought it might be an idea to try and raise some money at the same time. Not for us you understand, but for St Ann's Hospice, a place I drive past every Saturday morning on my way to my own version of Wembley.

The charity has been caring for people in Greater Manchester and Cheshire for more than half a century, and now has big plans for a new, purpose-built hospice that will serve the needs of the community now and in the future.

The walk schedule suggests it's 96 miles long, so add in a few miles for travelling between B&Bs and let's call it 100 miles. (My knees are already quivering at the thought of doing 15 miles on the very last day).

It would be great to think that each mile we walk we're raising more money for this great cause. My basic sums suggest that if 100 people give us 10p per mile, we'll reach the ambitious target of £1000. That said, any donation will be most gratefully received.
