Story
Andy Leather is taking on a momentous challenge for Together for Toby. Andy will be running 5 miles every 4 hours for 72 hours this July raising money for Cure Myotonic Dystrophy as part of Team Toby!
Here is what Andy had to say about his biggest running challenge to date!
"17th JULY!!! That is when the Challenge 5 miles(8k) every 4 hours for 72 hours starts!! It is for an amazing charity Cure DM, this charity has been picked by Standish Globe Runners as there chosen charity for this year, so I decided to try and help!
Paul Cartwright who is a fellow member of SGR does lots of work for the charity. Toby is Paul's grandson who has the condition Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy and who Together for Toby was set up for His Dad Bradley also ran the London Marathon with Paul this year for the charity too😃😃
So I had a chat with Paul and decided that this year was the time to UP this challenge from 4 years ago (people called me daft then😆😆😆) when I completed the challenge for 48 hours but I have upped it this year to 72 hours!
So now the planning is taking place for routes and other runners (and cyclists) if they wish to come and take part in a few legs of this tough challenge with me. It was tough for 48, but definitely worth pushing the limits for such a great charity!!
If you think you can help in any way let me know. I have already had donations from from Erdinger isotonic non alcoholic beer to help with recovery, and a few other companies have said to be sending things to help me through this challenge.
This is my sponsor me page and any amount would be greatly appreciated, and there will be monthly updates as to route starts and fundraising amounts
Thanks in advance👍🏻😃
Here is some information about Together for Toby and CureDM:
TEAM TOBY is a ' CureDM Together Campaign' run by the Cartwright family in Wigan. The aim is to use their experience to help raise awareness of Myotonic Dystrophy, as well as funds for support and research. Toby was diagnosed with CDM at 3 weeks old, subsequently mum Becky was diagnosed with DM1.
Toby is the happiest little boy who faces every challenge in his own way, with his adorable smile and a cheeky laugh. He is not defined by his condition and instead makes his own rules and way in life.
The family is working hard to raise funds and awareness for this condition and this page is a record of fundraisers and achievements.
You can support Team Toby by donating directly to the fundraising page, attending events, or setting up your own event or fundraising activity - THANK YOU!
Becky, Brad and Toby!
