Becky's first (and only?) triathlon - for Elmore Community Services

Becky Willis is raising money for Elmore Community Services

Blenheim Palace Triathlon 2026 · 6 June 2026 to 7 June 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

Elmore was established to provide support in 1989; focusing on people in Oxford City who were falling between the gaps of support services, and who had complex or multiple needs. Today, Elmore holds a similar place locally; known as the go to organisation to support people who need a different approach in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. The Elmore approach often includes support delivered in the home, or the person’s local community, and is characterised by case workers who persevere, support people through a number of challenges, and seek always to get alongside and aim for empowerment and increased independence as outcomes of this support. The people who Elmore support often experience mental health issues, and may face challenges with substance use, insecure housing and domestic abuse. People may have experienced abuse or exploitation and found that they need support to tackle their problems, improve their lives, and feel part of their communities. Elmore has an active and influential members association, and is part of the Oxfordshire Mental Health Partnership and Oxfordshire Homeless Alliance.

Story

"Thank you for being there when my world was so scary. Thank you for being my safe space and making all the big things feel a little smaller. Thank you for getting me through it."

This is from a letter to an Elmore Case Worker. In my 3 years as a trustee, I've been privileged to see so many more examples of people in complex, horrible situations turning their lives around with the dedicated, creative support of Elmore workers.

There are more people than ever desperate for this support yet costs have risen much faster than funding.

That's why I've signed up for my first ever Triathlon - to try and make a small contribution. I've never done anything like this before and I'll be delighted if I finish.

Please don't donate if you can't afford to, but if you can, I and Elmore would be very grateful for whatever you can spare.
