Story
I’m taking on the Royal Parks Half this October for The MPS Society💙
The MPS Society provides vital support to families affected by one of 27 rare genetic conditions, collectively affecting around 1 in 25,000 births in the UK (roughly 20–30 babies each year).
This cause is very close to my heart. Earlier this year, an incredibly special little boy in my life was diagnosed with one of these conditions just weeks before his first birthday. His specific type of MPS is considered ultra rare, affecting only around 6 babies in the UK each year.
Watching his family navigate something so complex, unknown and overwhelming has brought into focus just how important organisations like the MPS Society are. Already, they have done so much to support his parents and will do so much to support him as he grows older. He is currently waiting for a bone marrow transplant which he needs urgently and the MPS society have been incredible at supporting his parents through this process so far making the many hospital visit a little easier.
Most importantly the MPS Society also fund vital, life-saving research to improve understanding of these conditions and to help develop better treatments, so that outcomes for children like the little boy I’m running for can continue to improve.
If you’re able to donate or share, I’d be so grateful! Thank you so much! 💙
