Starting on March 29th, the inspiration for the trek came from my cousin Tom who had dreamed of completing this challenge before sadly passing away with Sudden Death Syndrome 3 days before his 40th birthday. I am undertaking this challenge in his memory and to raise funds for 2 charities and am hoping to raise equal amounts for both:1) The British Heart Foundation; and 2) Orchard Vale Trust ("OVT") (Registered Charity No.326940). OVT was set up in 1986 and provides tailored accommodation and support to adults with a broad range of learning difficulties. OVT is seeking funds to buy 4 defibrillators (one for each care home). Studies show that people with learning difficulties are likely to experience several health conditions at an earlier age than on average. With many of the residents getting older, on-sire defibrillators have the potential to save a life and nothing can be more valuable than that.
