Story
Domestic abuse comes in more forms than we assume, and in 3 women experience domestic abuse in their lifetime, and I know all too well the impact that living in a hostile environment can have on a person’s wellbeing, confidence and development. If I had a magic wand, I would fix it in an instant. I do not, so the next best thing is raising funds and awareness alongside so many brave and compassionate people.
For over 50 years, Women’s Aid have provided life-saving support to women escaping abusive relationships, helping survivors find safety, stability and hope for the future. I am proud to support their mission to empower more women to find safer, brighter futures.
I will be walking in the shape of a heart whenever I get the chance this May. This challenge is especially meaningful to me because I have lived with a chronic heart condition for a significant portion of my life. This has shaped the way I understand stress, safety and recovery, and has shown me how differently people can be affected by difficult experiences. No two people experience domestic abuse in exactly the same way, which is why accessible, compassionate and individualised support is so important.
There is always more we can do to help, so let's do it <3
(I downloaded Strava for this and had to reset my JG password, I am committed xx)
