Neurokinex 2026 Step Up Challenge

Bethany Jackson is raising money for The Neurokinex Charitable Trust
“Ski Erg and Walk”

on 9 September 2026

The Step Up Challenge raises vital funds to safeguard our Step Up Scheme which gives newly injured people six free one-hour rehabilitation sessions. For many this is lifechanging: introducing them to specialist rehab and a supportive community.

Story

My Story

In 2020 I sustained an incomplete spinal cord injury at T12 and L5, which significantly affected my walking, mobility and strength.

I was fortunate to be able to access the Neurokinex Step Up Programme, providing me with six free sessions of specialist rehabilitation. I have now been attending Neurokinex for five years, and their support has been a huge part of my ongoing recovery.

Over those five years, Neurokinex has helped me regain strength, improve my balance and re-learn how to walk. They have also helped me achieve things I didn’t think were possible, including getting back on a bike. The team at Bristol have been incredible. They have continually supported, encouraged and challenged me.

Neurokinex relies on fundraising to ensure that people following a spinal cord injury can access specialist rehabilitation when they need it most.

Having experienced first-hand how much of a difference this support can make, my aim is to pay it forward by raising £500 to provide 6 sessions to someone else.

My Challenge

I am taking part in the Neurokinex Step Up Challenge 2026.

On Wednesday 9th September, I’ll be challenging my endurance on the SkiErg. During a usual rehabilitation session, I warm up by covering around 150m. For the challenge, I’ll be using the SkiErg for my full one-hour session, with a target of covering 5km.

Then, on Saturday 12th September, I’ll be challenging myself to walk 10km . I currently walk a maximum of around 2,000 steps a day, so reaching 10km will be a test of the strength, endurance and mobility I have worked hard to regain.

Please support me in raising funds. Every donation makes a big difference and will help Neurokinex continue to provide this vital support to people following a spinal cord injury.
