Billie Sow is raising money for Opening Your Heart to Bhutan
I’m Emma Slade (Ani Pema Deki) and my charity, Opening Your Heart to Bhutan transforms the lives of children in Bhutan with additional needs. I am walking 403km in October for these children. Why not be a part of this vital work? Huge thanks!

Story

LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST

Hi I am Billie Sow. I was born with dwarfism, and throughout my life, I have faced more than just physical challenges. The emotional and social hurdles have often been just as difficult.

Recently, I read about Ani Pema Deki, also known as Emma Slade, the founder of Opening Your Heart to Bhutan. In October 2025, she will walk 403km across Bhutan, crossing 12 mountains at altitudes of up to 4000 meters, all in just 37 days, to raise funds for children with special needs in Bhutan.

As someone who knows what it feels like to live with limitations, I was deeply moved and inspired by Ani’s mission. I reached out to Ani, unsure if I could help. Her response was something I will never forget: “Whatever you do will be amazing!”

Those words meant everything. Ani did not count me out even after knowing my disability. Most people do. Instead, she encouraged me and suggested ways I could get involved.

So now, I am challenging myself. Because of my condition, I have always been shy and afraid of crowds. But over the next 37 days, I will gradually invite up to 50 people to dance together with me.

This is more than just a dance. It’s me facing my fear and standing tall, not just for myself, but for those children. It’s a reminder that no matter who we are or what we look like, we all deserve to live life with joy, pride & freedom.

Please support my fundraiser. Your generosity will help create brighter futures for children with special needs in Bhutan. Thank you very much!
