The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.

Story

looks like we are up for another challenge....

the aim is 2.5K so that Genna will then be able to name a puppy after all the fundraising shes done

me and Genna are doing a walk for guide dogs on 7th september but with a twist!

genna is going to be blind folded ... and I'm navigating!!

we are walking from bentley train station to cusworth hall.

there will be a stall at cusworth hall and guide dogs will be there, hopefully a nice mix of pups, working dogs and retired dogs for you to say hello to. we will also have a tombola on and a few other bits.

we will be walking a route i have learnt with guide dogs to walk each day with oscar.

Genna is going to walk using a cane and i will be explaining the tactile markers and how to realise where she is, and how blind and visually impaired people get from A to B. Genna will be discovering many of the hurdles blind people face from day to day including cars parked on kerbs, bins, lamp posts, pot holes, damaged crossings etc etc

this is a fundraiser but its also much more, its to help raise awareness of issues some of us face daily.

(for safety reasons we will be having a sighted person following behind but just for gennas safety they wont be guiding or hinting)
