Many of you will not know that My dad and Brian’s father-in-law , David, had haemophilia, which is a genetic bleeding condition and he sadly passed away due to infected blood given to him by the NHS.

Living with an incurable condition can be very challenging and Dad was grateful for the support he received throughout his life from the Haemophilia Society (THS).

We’d like to use the joyful occasion of our wedding to raise money for this charity which was so close to Dads heart. The money raised will be used by THS to help families with children newly diagnosed with a genetic bleeding disorder, because we know Dad would have wanted to support the next generation of young people with haemophilia.

It means a lot to us to know that our wedding could provide a lasting legacy of support for people with haemophilia and other bleeding disorders in dads name.

One in 2,000 people in the UK have a diagnosed bleeding disorder, including conditions such as haemophilia and von Willebrand disorder, that result when the blood cannot clot properly. As many as a third of bleeding disorder diagnoses have no known family history, which means a diagnosis can come completely out of the blue.

THS is the only UK-wide charity for everyone affected by a genetic bleeding disorder. It’s free to join and has more than 5,500 members. Its aim is to empower everyone affected by a bleeding disorder to live life to the full. THS believes that with the right support, almost anything is possible.
