BRJ Run and Tri Huntingdon Fundraising For Guide Dogs for the Blind
Thank you for visiting BRJ Run and Tri Huntingdon fund raising page. We are a running and triathlon club. Each year we fundraise for a charity chosen and supported by our members.
I nominated Guide Dogs for the Blind having met my friend Martine 10 years ago. She is visually impaired and relies on her guide dog to be active and to do all the things she wants to do. Through Martine I have found out about the amazing work of Guide Dogs. The charity provides practical help and support to give confidence and independence to blind and visually impaired people. This work relies on donations and more is needed to cope with the increasing demand. There is a 2 year waiting list to provide a guide dog to those who need them. These specially trained dogs are matched to their owners who then spend time training together becoming a team. When at work the dogs are fully focussed and alert but they also become close companions and part of the family.
Martine is a tireless fundraiser and has a very active life with Willow her guide dog. She enthusiastically takes on new challenges to promote and raise funds for Guide Dogs, a 50 mile hike, cycling Ride London, sky diving, driving a car, are just a few. She is training with a guide runner and coach for her first 5K run. Please help Martine and BRJ support others coping with sight loss.
