Story

What is aplastic anaemia?

Aplastic anaemia is a rare type of bone marrow failure. It's where the bone marrow stops creating all kinds of blood cells. It's really rare and affects 1 in every half a million people. Treatment is very similar to the treatment someone might have for leukaemia - but because it's so rare, families often don't have access to the same information and support.

We are hosting a games night on 19th April 2024 from 7pm and this is how it works!

1. You donate £10 to this fundraiser! (Or more! We won't be cross if you want to donate oodles of lovely cash!)

2. Show up to our place at 7pm on Friday 19th April March 2024! (Once you've donated, we'll let you know where to go)

3. We will provide a night of fun, games and zany challenges. There will be prizes!

4. We will provide lots of delicious snacks to help you keep your energy up.

5. We will provide soft drinks, but if you want booze, please bring your own.

If you think this sounds like fun, but can't come, please consider making a donation anyway - it's for a great cause!!

If you want to know why we are fundraising then please read on.

The Aplastic Anaemia Trust (AAT) is the only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting people affected by aplastic anaemia.

Vicky works for the AAT and they do some incredible work supporting their community, and raising money for research into better treatments for people with this rare disease.

How The AAT help people;

-Provide expert emotional well-being support, designed and delivered by qualified psychologists

-Help members of our community to access benefits and insurance

-Publish new up-to-date information resources to help people understand the condition, current research and treatment

-Facilitate improved opportunities for peer-to-peer support

-Raise awareness and help you to explain the condition to clinicians, teachers, employers, and the public
