As many of you know, camp has impacted both Kylie and Owen's lives in an unmeasurable way. Kylie started going to camp at 10 in Delaware cabin at YMCA Camp Flaming Arrow. She grew up at CFA, went through the LIT and CIT programs and eventually got one of her first jobs as a counselor at Camp Flaming Arrow. Since then, she has stayed at the YMCA, watching the incredible growth campers make in just one week at camp. Owen grew up going to day camps in Colorado and eventually found his way to overnight camp as a counselor at YMCA Camp Santa Maria when he saw firsthand campers finding an incredible ability to push themselves and the power of "you can do it". He loves seeing campers do hard things and overcome their fears. Together Kylie and Owen are assistant directors at YMCA Camp Seymour where they have the privilege of watching campers learn, challenge themselves, and make new friends.

This summer, Camp Seymour's word of the summer is resilience, specifically resilience through adventure. There are few places on the planet like a summer camp, we hope that each kid that walks through the front gates leaves with new friends, knowledge of the outdoors and most of all the resilience to make it through anything that challenges them. What better way to live the cause of resilience through adventure than through challenging ourselves the same. On May 29th, we will be paddling a tandem sea kayak 70 miles in 48 hours from Tacoma to Port Townsend.
