Running for Autism Awareness: Embrace the Spectrum

Scottish Half Marathon 2024 · 18 August 2024 ·
Completing a half marathon has always been on my bucket list but in complete honesty I never thought I would partake in one. That was until my work's Charity Committee announced they were running the Scottish Half Marathon to raise money for Scottish Autism. This charity resonated with me because my eldest stepson is autistic and although his diagnosis is classed as mild it still has a profound effect on his daily life.
Scottish Autism work with both children and adults diagnosed with autism providing a range of services including (but not limited to) outreach support, supported living and respite and short breaks. It is not just those affected with autism that the charity supports, they also have trained advisors on hand to offer both emotional and practical support to families. The services Scottish Autism provides are lifelines to many people with their work allowing individuals diagnosed with autism to lead happy and fulfilling lives.
What started as a bucket list item which served to help only myself has now become a challenge to raise awareness and funds for a worthwhile charity. Any donation you can give is greatly appreciated and I thank you for taking the time to read my JustGiving page 😊.
See you at the finish line.
