Carly's fundraiser for Dementia UK

Carly Aslett is raising money for Dementia UK
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

Thank you for visiting our page ♡

My dad is currently living with Dementia (mixed Dementia - Alzheimers & Vascular) and the support we have had from the Admiral Nurses at Dementia UK has been nothing short of incredible.

I am powerless in the fight against Dementia and making my dad better, all I can do is support him on the journey as the disease continues.

I can however raise as much money as possible for Dementia UK so they can continue their incredible work.

I'll run fundraisers throughout the year, starting with this page.

My Dad and football

My dad's football journey began in the early 1970s when he was part of the Huddersfield Town youth setup during a really successful period for the club’s academy. That youth side had a remarkable run between 1972 and 1975, reaching the FA Youth Cup Final, the semi-final the following year and winning two international youth tournaments in Portugal.

After his time at Huddersfield, he went on to play senior football across Hertfordshire as a committed defender. He played in the Southern League with Stevenage and made over 70 senior appearances for the Stevenage clubs during his career.

He also went on to represent Hitchin Town, Baldock Town and Letchworth Garden City, spending many years involved in the non-league game too.

He has been involved with Stevenage Borough from the late 60's through to now, first as a player, later as a coach and now as a loyal season ticket holder rarely missing a game. As with many of our ex players; football isn't just a game, its a way of life.

Sadly, my dad is now living with dementia, something that we know has affected far too many former footballers.
