Just4Children are fundraising for Mati to help her get the support and opportunities she needs to enable her to improve her mobility and quality of life.

Mati is my smart, beautiful, witty 4-year-old niece. In December last year she completed her first triathlon. She has cerebral palsy, and all physical activities present the kind of challenges I can't really imagine, yet her determination and discipline in trying to reach her mobility goals is truly something to behold.

She inspired me to set my own goal and, somehow, I ended up signing up for the Copenhagen Marathon. The wisdom of this remains to be seen, but in the process, I want to raise some money for Mati's mission. To keep pace with Mati's determination requires resources which, at times, exceed those available through statutory services. She requires specialist support, adaptations, physiotherapy input and equipment to realise her physical potential and to participate as fully as possible in life. She comes from a family of keen cyclists and for her to have her own adapted bicycle with all the independence this would bring is something I can't wait to see.

So, I hope through the pursuit of my own, by comparison small, challenge, I can bring Mati's mission to others and ask you to give either directly to her cause or to Cerebral Palsy Cymru which supports other children like Mati across Wales.
