Story
Mati is a wonderful, cheeky intelligent and curious little 3 year old from Swansea. She has a beaming smile and a mischievous look in her eye. Since she was small Mati has struggled with gross motor skills.
The first suggestions of Cerebral Palsy were raised when she was 9 months. This condition means that she has to work extremely hard to develop her mobility and on a day-to-day basis has challenges getting around independently. She does this with a huge sense of determination and a never-ending sense of fun, she is our HERO.
Mati is ever more motivated to do her exercises and loves working with her therapy teams. She has made huge progress to get to where she is, and with a big push further amazing milestones are within reach.
This might sound like a bold plan, but we believe that Mati could be able to take first independent steps by next Christmas. I cant think of anything that would make her happier! She is eager to work hard, so we need to provide her with the support and opportunities she needs to get there.
On the 1st of Jan, while most will still be in bed recovering from New Years, we will be flying to Warsaw for 2 weeks of intensive therapy at Dzielny Mis, who we have been working with over the last 18 months. We will returning again in June and November for 2 weeks each time.
In February we are starting Dynamic Movement Intervention with CPotential in London. For April we have secured a space at Swim Lab tapping into Matis love for swimming. We are attending this leading facility that combines hydrotherapy with physio in a 6-day course with 6 hours of therapy per day.
To get the most out of physio sessions at home we are planning on buying a medical grade vibration plate. These are proven to improve therapy benefits by decreasing coordination deficits and spasticity.
To help Mati engage in fun mobility-based activities with her friends (getting physio by stealth!) we would love to use a Tomcat Adapted Trike, so she can keep up with her friends in the park!
