Story
Why I’m fundraising for the Laura Hyde Foundation.
This year I’m taking on the Great North Run again, 10 years after I first ran it. It feels like quite a milestone, but this time the challenge is going to be a little different. I’m still building back up following an injury last year, so there definitely won’t be any PBs or heroics! The plan is to take it slow and steady, enjoy the day and, most importantly, get myself back to that start line.
I’ve chosen to raise money for the Laura Hyde Foundation, a charity I first came across through my work.
The Laura Hyde Foundation does incredibly important work supporting the mental health and wellbeing of healthcare professionals. Those working in healthcare spend so much of their lives looking after other people, often in incredibly difficult and demanding circumstances, and I really believe it’s just as important that they have the support and space to look after themselves.
Having come across the Foundation through work, it’s a cause that has stayed with me and one I’m really pleased to be able to support through this year’s GNR.
10 years after my first Great North Run, I’m back. It might be slow, it might be tough, but hopefully every mile will help raise a little more for a really worthwhile cause.
If you’re able to donate, however big or small, I’d be incredibly grateful. And if you can’t donate, a share or a bit of encouragement on the way will mean just as much.
Thank you for supporting me and the Laura Hyde Foundation. ❤️
