Story
This year I’m taking on the Great North Run again — and it feels pretty special as it’s 10 years since I did my first one.
This year, it’s going to be a very different challenge. I’m still building back up following my injury last year, so it’s going to be slow and steady with lots of walking. The aim is simply to get back to the start line, enjoy it and make every mile count. I’ve even foregone wine since the beginning of June to help me get to that start line (trust me to pick the nicest summer for such an idea 🤣).
Anyway I’m raising money for two charities that are very close to my heart:
💙 The Laura Hyde Foundation — a charity I came across in tragic circumstances through my work. They are a small bit fabulous charity supporting the mental health and wellbeing of healthcare professionals.
🚁 Great North Air Ambulance Service — a charity that means an enormous amount to me & all our family personally after they tried so hard to save Dad. They are now in their own battle with an annual cost of £9.6m to keep flying plus trying to raise a further £2.5m for a new third helicopter.
Both charities do incredibly important work, and I’d love to use this GNR to raise as much as possible for them.
You can choose which charity you’d like your donation to support when you donate through the relevant fundraising page.
Thank you so much for supporting me and my continued daft ideas. Every donation, share and bit of encouragement means more than you know.
