Story
Homerton Hope
Thank you for stopping by my fundraising page.
Homerton is close to all our families hearts as its NICU department saved our son’s life.
Our little boy Callum was born extremely premature at 25 weeks 5 days last summer which turned our families world upside down in a heartbeat.
I am running the Hackney half marathon in 2026 to try and raise money for their incredible NICU department who we can’t thank enough for saving and giving us our beautiful little boy.
We were transferred to a level 3 hospital in Hackney when my waters broke unexpectedly and luckily we were in the right place at the right time! Callum spent 3 months being cared for around the clock 24/7 by the incredible neonatal team of doctors and nurses at Homerton hospital. The perinatal team were also brilliant and helped us through a very difficult time.
Callum’s onward journey…
We got transferred back to our local hospital East Surrey where the continued care was amazing by both SCBU and perinatal.
After 129 days in hospital Callum came home on the 2nd of Jan 2025.
Callum is now one years old, off home oxygen, and his journey is very much ongoing with lots of hospital admissions due to his chronic lung disease and compromised immune system. We have become regulars to East Surrey children’s ward who have been absolutely brilliant too, under numerous doctors, nurses and community support teams. There’s so many people who have helped our family throughout all of this, too many to name, friends, family, health care professionals - shown so much compassion, support and love. Thank you!
Despite it all Callum is catching up with all his milestones and one very happy little boy, view the gallery to see how far he has come.
Any donation, no matter the amount makes a difference - thank you so much! X
