John McGhee is a truly remarkable person. After the devastating loss of his 23-year-old son, Max, he has dedicated himself to supporting others and leading vital conversations around suicide prevention.
Earlier this year, John spoke on BBC Radio Bristol in a powerful 20-minute segment about the importance of open dialogue around suicide, and how R;pple Suicide Prevention is helping to lead that conversation. You can listen to the interview here:

R;pple is a digital intervention tool that activates when someone searches for harmful content online. Instead of being met with dangerous results, users are guided through calming breathing exercises and presented with simple, supportive resources (helplines, forums, and mental health services) alongside messages of hope and encouragement.
To date, Alice Hendy’s technology has been downloaded over 300,000 times. It’s available free of charge to schools, colleges, universities, parents, carers, and charities.
Even more powerfully, R;pple has been triggered over 100,000 times, meaning it has intercepted that many potentially harmful searches. And 32 individuals have personally reached out to say that R;pple saved their life.
That’s the kind of impact we want to support. Thank you for helping us to do that.
