Story
Prison Reform Trust, Prison Physical Education Instructors and selected members of the London running community are supporting women living in prison to train for and to run a half-marathon within the grounds of HMP New Hall, to benefit their physical and mental health whilst raising funds for PRT.
Anyone who knows me knows how much I love running and how strongly I believe in the physical and mental health benefits it brings. Running has the power not only to improve individual wellbeing but also to build resilience, discipline, and a sense of purpose.
I’m equally passionate about social justice and the importance of rehabilitation. Exercise can play a vital role in rehabilitation within prisons, offering people the chance to rebuild confidence, manage stress, and work towards positive change. By providing structure and a healthy outlet, sport and fitness can help support individuals on their journey to reintegration and reduce the risk of reoffending.
That’s why I’m so excited to have the opportunity to run inside a prison and raise money for this wonderful charity, which is committed to harnessing the power of sport to create second chances
