Story
My mum has bravely faced four different types of cancer throughout her life — skin cancer, breast cancer, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and most recently, Stage 4 Large B-Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. After months of chemotherapy, she has just received the incredible news that she’s in remission.
We are a family of five, and every one of these battles she has overcome has meant more time together — more memories, more laughter, more life! I know how lucky we are to still have that, and I want other families and individuals to have that chance too. That’s why I want to fundraise for and support the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), in honour of my mum’s strength and the vital research that makes recoveries like hers possible.
To help raise funds for ICR, I will be running the Berlin Marathon on 27th September, with a target of £2,000. This will be an enormous personal challenge for me, the furthest I’ve ever run is 10km and I don’t currently run consistently, so taking on a full marathon is well outside my comfort zone. But that’s exactly why it matters.
If my mum can face cancer four times, I can take on this challenge.
Please support me if you can, and together we can help beat cancer — for families like mine, and for so many others.
