"Sunday 7th May, the day that my families' lives changed forever. Jessica woke up early, feeling a little unwell. 4 hours later, following 3 seizures, an MRI and a CT scan, my wife and I were called into a doctor's office at our local hospital to be told that there was an abnormality on Jessica’s brain, and that emergency transport was being arranged to take us straight to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Our worst nightmare had become a reality. How could such a healthy and happy little girl have a brain tumor? What does this mean? Will she live?

Since we’ve been under the care of Great Ormond Street, I’ve met a few parents who are supporting their children through serious illness, and one thing we can all agree on is - GOSH is the one place you fear you will end up, but once you are here, you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. The care and support provided to kids and their parents is second to none, truly these are special people who work here.

I’d been fortunate enough to have never needed the care of GOSH prior to Jessica’s cancer diagnosis, but now I’ve seen firsthand the miracles that are performed here on a daily basis, I’ll forever be in their debt.

So, I’d love nothing more than for you to consider how you could help support a child and their family through what will without doubt be some of the hardest times of their lives. "
