Our participants will be raising money to provide targeted support to veterans, their families and dependents who are struggling with disability, mental health, or financial challenges.

Story

Raising funds for The OppO Foundation is not just about collecting donations; it's about transforming lives.

Every penny raised plays a crucial role in providing vital support to veterans who have selflessly served our nation. Those who often face unique challenges as they transition back to civilian life, including coping with physical injuries and mental health issues like PTSD.

Your fundraising efforts enable us to offer essential services such as sport rehabilitation assistance, mental health support, and community integration initiatives.

By supporting The OppO Foundation, you're giving more than just financial aid; you're offering hope, dignity, and a pathway to a brighter future.

Your contribution means a veteran in need can access the care and support they deserve, making a profound and lasting difference in their lives. Together, we can honour their service and ensure they are not alone in their journey.

I was extremely fortunate to represent Team UK at the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf last year, competing in wheelchair racing 1500m 400m and 200m, winning gold in all 3 races, l also forfeited competing in the 100m race, to help a Jordanian lady(Rola Amro) complete the 100m distance. Rola had never been in a racing wheelchair before, she was the only female on the Jordanian team and trained as a nurse here in the UK. Rola was caught in suiside bombings in Aman in 2005 and is now paralysed from the chest down. Helping Rola will always be my highlight from the games. Later in the week l also competed in Handcycling winning silver in both the time trial and criterium races. The Invictus games pushed me further than l thought l could ever push myself and helped me to find my competitive edge again. The OppO Foundation generously pledged funding to enable me to get my own RGK racing wheelchair and presented me with a chair on centre court at The Boodles Tennis event last year. My chair is currently being built and later in the year l will start coaching wheelchair racing at the Oxford Universities Athletics club.

Not every veteran gets to experience the Invictus Games or gets gifted expensive adaptive sports equipment, so this year l want to give back to the charities who have supported and continue to support me, by taking part in fundraising events, so they can continue to support wounded, injured and sick veterans like myself.

Thank you so much for your kind donation
