WHOOSH 2026 Severn: Source to Sea · 1 May 2026

In many rural areas across the globe children are denied access to basic needs due to the barrier of distance. World Bicycle Relief’s mission is to provide sustainable, appropriate bicycles to mobilise and empower individuals and communities so they can travel to schools, clinics and markets.

Story

The WHOOSH team are preparing for another pedal power adventure- This time raising money for World Bicycle Relief

Cycling is a straight forward choice in our country, but in some parts of the world access to a bicycle has a massive impact on an individual and a community's fortune.

World Bicycle Relief is a Sunday Times 2025 Christmas Appeal beneficiary that wants to break the barrier to education, healthcare and economic opportunity that many people face because of distance.

Their mission is to provide 'Buffalo Bikes' designed for challengng rural conditions and to set up a network of mechanics so that individuals and communities can travel to schools, clinics and market.

As of March 2026, the charity has distributed one million bicycles across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, impacting approximately 5 million people.

This year WHOOSH will be taking a 280 mile route from Aberysthwyth to Bristol following the River Severn from its source to sea.

All donations are sent directly to the charity from JustGiving, with no costs deducted, and as usual, the team fund all expenses themselves.
