Why I'm Running

At the start of this year, I set myself a challenge: to run a minimum of 5km every single day for the entire year. Six months in, I've stayed committed to that goal and have already covered 1,470km+, including completing a marathon and multiple half marathons along the way.

What started as a fitness challenge has become something much more meaningful. I got back into running this year because I wanted a purpose, something that would push me forward each day and remind me to make every day count. Running has helped me appreciate the little things in life, whether that's an early morning sunrise, a quiet moment to reflect, or simply the satisfaction of putting one foot in front of the other.

This challenge is also dedicated to my mum, who sadly passed away on 16th February 2024. Her courage, strength and bravery continue to inspire me every day. Whenever I'm struggling on a run, feeling tired, or questioning whether I can keep going, I think of everything she went through and the way she faced it with such determination. It reminds me that I can always take one more step.

The lessons she taught me don't just help me through the runs—they help me through life. This challenge is my way of honouring her memory, carrying her with me on every mile, and turning something difficult into something positive.

There have been tough days, but this journey has taught me resilience, gratitude and the importance of showing up, even when it's hard. I'm raising money not only to support a cause that means a lot to our family, but also to prove that small, consistent efforts can make a real difference.

Thank you for your support. Every donation, share and message of encouragement means more than you know.

A minimum of 5km every day. One year. One step at a time. For our mum.
