Just over 11yrs ago, I had the privilege of donating a kidney to my brother. Kidney failure, a disease he had suffered with since being a baby has at times taken over our lives. The many hospital trips, blood tests, operations and dialysis he has had to endure has been heartbreaking to watch. At 20 he once again had to go on dialysis, whilst still working a full time physical job. It was whilst waiting on the transplant list his kidney care co-ordinator suggested a living donor, this was not something he wanted to do or ask, but with his kidneys deteriorating it was his only option. Fast forward a year of testing we were ready for the donation day, 30/10/12. Thankfully my brother has thrived since this day, now married with two wonderful children. Charities like this are vital, helping kidney patients, families and kidney units at hospitals. Any amount would be greatly appreciated from myself, my brother and our family x
