Charlotte and Maddy's DUCFS 2026 Fundraiser

Charlotte And Maddy is raising money for Durham Students' Union

2KFOR24 - Running 2k every hour for 24 hours with fun challenges along the way · 30 November 2025

DUCFS 2026 is fundraising for Marie Curie, the UK's leading end-of-life care charity, and DUCFS Launchpad.

Story

Hi Everyone!

We are super excited (and scared...) to be taking on this fundraising challenge in support of Marie Curie. This will be no small feat as neither of us (particularly Charlotte) are expert runners and equally bad when deprived of sleep however it will all be worth it to help make a difference and fund the brilliant projects DUCFS 2026 are proudly supporting.

We will be running 2k every single hour for 24 hours consecutively (that's longer than a marathon BTW...) and will be incorporating some challenges along the way to spice it up once we hit certain fundraising milestones:

- £150: We will do one 1/24 runs in our PYJAMAS (watch out Durham)

- £250: We will do 1/24 runs THREE-LEGGED

- £350: We will do Karaoke whilst doing 1/24 runs

- £450: We will do 1/24 runs in HIGH HEELS

- £550: We will do ONE RUN EACH BLINDFOLDED

- £650: We will do 1 POST-RUN ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE

-£750: We will get all of our friends to egg us and do 1/24 run covered in raw egg (1 donation = 1 egg)

-£850: We will do 1/24 in Bikini bottoms

PLEASE, please donate, however big or small it would mean so so much to us and everyone at Marie Curie. Please read about the incredible projects DUCFS will be funding this year below:

For DUCFS 2026, we are very proud to be partnering with Marie Curie in the North East, helping them to support those with terminal illnesses within our local community.

We are aiming to fund Marie Curie UK’s Durham Companion's Service for two years, and North East Clinic Educator role for one year.

Marie Curie UK Companions provide free emotional and practical support to anyone affected by terminal illness. They provide comfort and companionship to patients, helping them find moments of normality through activities they enjoy such as gardening, shopping, or simply having a conversation, as they navigate the final stages of life. Companions also provide support to loved ones, and anyone affected by terminal illness, during both the end-of-life journey and through the bereavement period.

The North East Clinic Educator is fundamental in providing high quality support and care. They train, mentor, and upskill staff, empowering them to provide compassionate, expert support to patients and families during life’s most difficult moments.

We’re supporting two North East–based Marie Curie projects: the Companion Volunteer Service and the North East Clinical Educator Role. Together, they strengthen Marie Curie’s leading end-of-life care by providing personal support for individuals and professional training for staff.

We will also be supporting DUCFS Launchpad, our creative outreach platform. Through a series of projects focused on local community, arts, and music, Launchpad aims to ignite change in the North East.

Thank you so much everyone!! xxxx
