Sahara Desert Trek 2026 · 8 October 2026 to 13 October 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

Every Life Matters aims to reduce deaths by suicide in Cumbria through training, awareness raising and development of a network of Suicide Safer Communities across the County. We also provide support to individuals and communities bereaved and affected by suicide.

Story

On average more than one person a week dies by suicide in Cumbria, more than double the amount that die on our County's roads. Every death by suicide is an avoidable tragedy.

Suicides are preventable. We need a society where people feel able to reach out for help. Where members our communities have the knowledge and skills to recognise when someone is at risk and to know how to offer support. And services that are accessible and effective.

Suicide is everyone's business. Visit our website today and learn what part you can play.

This time next year, I'll be trekking across the Sahara Desert to raise money for two amazing causes close to my heart: Bipolar UK and Andy's Man Club.

On 10th October 2026, I'll be embarking on the toughest walk of my life- a symbolic journey for all the tough walks so many people face silently every day.

It will be hot, it would be difficult, and it will definitely push me to my limits. But, it's also something I'll remember forever, and a way to honour those I've loved and lost far too soon.

I've already opened my donations pages, although I know the trek is a while away. I've chosen to pay the full cost of the trip by myself, so 100% of the donations will go directly to the charities. Donations on this page will be going to Bipolar UK, whilst throughout the year I will be doing numerous other fundraisers to raise money for Andy's Man Club.

If you're able to donate, share or just cheer me on along the way, it would been the world to me.

Together, let's raise awareness and support for mental health.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
