Story
Chiswick Guide Dogs Community have started their 2026 Appeal with a busy January including several visits to local schools and boarding dogs in training including Cooper a labrador /retriever.
Boarded Tommy for 4 months last year and he has just qualified as a Guide Dog.
Very enjoyable visits in 2025 to schools,Scouts,Guides and the very welcoming St Andrews Fellowship at Christ Church Turnham Green - many thanks to all.And we were back there on July 5th for the Community Summer Fair- hoping to be back there in 2026.
Meanwhile Guide Dog owner Heather and her new dog Quincey are going well after completing full training and over a year together. Heather has been “free running” Quincey with other Guide Dogs in Chiswick House grounds, Gunnersbury Park and Homefield Recreation Ground.
Quincey is the dog on the left of the photo that also features Guide Dog Faldo at the front and Ambassador Dog Upton- plus a smaller dog who happened to join in (and is not a Guide Dog!)
Chiswick Guide Dogs started over 12 years ago when 3 households were recruited to board dogs in training and 2 are still volunteering for Guide Dogs - boarding, fundraising, visiting local schools and groups with dogs.
We are very grateful to local people for their support and the 4 local businesses who have helped us with fundraising by “hosting” Guide Dog Collection dogs and boxes at The Eye Studio on the High Rd,Busby’s pharmacy Grove Park,Youngs Vets and “Short and Tall” who provide coffee and much more at Chiswick overground station.
George 4th on Chiswick High Road hosted a special gathering of local Guide Dogs, volunteers and supporters in 2024.
July 5th 2025 we were have invited to take part in the Community Fair at Turnham Green organised by the team at Christ Church. We had 3 Guide Dogs with us from different generations in Tommy who is in training,Quincey who is a working Guide Dog with owner Heather and Upton who is retired.
