Chloe Shefford is raising money for Encephalitis International
Encephalitis International’s Children’s Appeal aims to raise £30,000 to support young people affected by encephalitis through a helpline, recovery resources, and events. Funds will aid recovery, reduce isolation, and connect affected families.

Story

Because Encephalitis Shouldn't Steal a Childhood

Encephalitis is a serious inflammation of the brain that can change - and sometimes take - a child or young person’s life in a matter of hours. Early recognition and timely support can save lives and improve long-term outcomes. For survivors, the effects can be life-changing, impacting learning, behaviour, emotions, relationships, and everyday life.

This appeal aims to raise £30,000 to support children and young people affected by encephalitis and their families. Funds will help provide family connection opportunities, including our Family Weekend; child-focused information and recovery resources for families, schools, and healthcare professionals; and our dedicated helpline, offering expert information, reassurance, and support.

Every child deserves the chance to recover, thrive, and enjoy their childhood. With your support, we can help ensure that encephalitis doesn't steal a childhood.
