RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

Freddie (Philippa), Tori, Claire and Mel - aka Chris's Angels - are skydiving from 15,000 feet to raise money for the RNLI.

Mel's father, Chris Copeland, served in the British Army's 7th Parachute Regiment (RHA). Many years later, as a keen ocean-going sailor and Branch Chair of the RNLI, Chris has set up a skydiving fundraiser for the charity called "Three Fall Challenge" (he free falls solo with individuals who, like us, do a tandem jump, hence 'three fall').

This year the challenge is close to reaching the £100,000 mark and we would love to help him get there, despite feeling faintly sick at the thought of jumping out of an aeroplane three miles above the earth and falling at 120mph for one minute before the canopy opens!

We would be so grateful for any amount, big or small, that you can spare to support the RNLI. This is a cause we and our families all believe in. Like so many others, we are swimmers and sailors who love the sea but know the dangers of unpredictable currents and changeable weather.

As a charity, the RNLI depends on our donations so it can go on saving lives and keeping us and our loved ones safe. RNLI lifesavers are our lifeline. They are the lifeboat crews who provide 24-hour search and rescue right around the UK and Ireland. The lifeguards keeping watch on 240 of the busiest beaches in the UK and Channel Islands. And the RNLI safety teams and educators work tirelessly to stop people getting into trouble in the first place.

Some VIP notes:

Our friend, Alex "Bosley" Wingate, is jumping with us on the same day. He's raising money for his own family's incredible charity, The Wingate Centre, which supports children with special educational needs and disabilities. Find out more and donate via his Just Giving page.

Colin Mathews has also joined this group all jumping on the same day! Colin first persuaded Chris/Mel's dad to take part in the Inferno downhill ski race in Switzerland back in 2019 and they have skied the race in Mürren regularly together ever since. Chris has now got his own back by persuading Colin to jump with Chris's Angels. As an avid skier, BM team leader and keen cyclist, Colin will be bringing a LOT of energy and his trademark joie de vivre to the skydive. Please do support him by donating generously here!
