Christmas Eve Football · 24 December 2024

Derian House Children's Hospice provides specialist care and respite to children and young people with life-limiting or life-shortening conditions. We cover the South of Cumbria, the entire of Lancashire and the North of Manchester. To provide our services in 2024 the cost to us stands at over £6m.

Story

What started as a friendly ‘kick about’ on Christmas Eve 13 years ago, has now turned into an annual ‘Christmas Eve Football’ fundraiser where we support charities that are close to the heart of members of our group whose families and friends have been sadly affected by illnesses or unfortunate circumstances.

Last year we raised an amazing record £2107 for Andy’s Man Club, £2020 the year before for The Brain Tumour Charity, £635 for Dementia UK in 2021, and £400 the year before for Cancer Research UK. In previous years we have raised money and donated food to local food banks, as well as donating food to our local homeless shelter on Christmas Eve.

For our 2024 Christmas Eve Football match we have chosen to support Derian House Children’s Hospice who provide respite and end-of-life care to more than 400 babies, children and young people across the North West 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The care that Derian House provides is free for families, but services cost £6 million to run every year with under 30% of funding they need coming from the government.

You can make a huge difference.

Thank you for taking the time to read about our fundraising and Merry Christmas!
