In January 2024, I found myself at a crossroads. Weighing 22 stone and unable to swim a single length of a pool without gasping for breath, the idea of participating in a 2-mile open water swim seemed utterly impossible. Yet here I am today, gearing up for the challenge of the Great North Swim, a testament to the transformative power of determination and perseverance.
