Team: Gurel & Cigdem runs 'Royal Parks Half' for Alcohol Change UK

Royal Parks Half Marathon 2025 · 12 October 2025 ·

Our wonderful runners are taking on the 2025 Royal Parks Half Marathon to fundraise for Alcohol Change UK.

Story

Hi friends! 👋

We’re Çiğdem & Gürel, and on 12 October we’ll be lacing up our trainers for something big – our very first half marathon! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Even though we run regularly, this is a whole new challenge for us – 21.1km of Royal Parks scenery, energy gels, and probably some questionable facial expressions in the last few miles.

We’re running to support Alcohol Change UK – a brilliant charity helping people make healthier choices around alcohol and offering support to those who need it. Their work helps create a healthier, safer society, and we’d love your help to support them.

If you can, please chip in to our fundraising page – every pound will keep us motivated when our legs are screaming and the finish line still looks miles away!

Thanks so much for your support (and if you see us on the day, please cheer… loudly!).

💛 Çiğdem & Gürel

About Alcohol Change UK

We are Alcohol Change UK. We work for a society that is free from the harm caused by alcohol.

We are not anti-alcohol; we are for alcohol change. We are for a future in which people drink as a conscious choice, not a default; where the issues which lead to alcohol problems like poverty, mental health issues, homelessness are addressed; where those of us who drink too much, and our loved ones, have access to high-quality support whenever we need it, without shame or stigma.

Your donations can help by:

* £20 could support around 20 people reduce their drinking through the Dry January® challenge.

* £30 could help us develop and deliver more training for front line workers and improve support for dependent drinkers.

* £40 could cover the costs of supporting 16 people for six months to reduce their drinking through our Try Dry® app.
