Story
This Ramadhan, City Academy, Bristol is coming together as a school community to support families affected by the devastating crisis in Sudan. Recognised as the worst humanitarian crisis in history, the situation in Sudan is heartbreaking: 30 million people are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. Today, Sudan has more displaced people than any other country in the world, with nearly 11 million men, women and children forced to flee their homes as armed clashes continue to push families to seek safety. An estimated 25.6 million people — half of the country’s population — are facing a severe food crisis, and 750,000 people are experiencing catastrophic levels of hunger and urgently need help now.
In the true spirit of compassion and generosity that defines Ramadhan, staff and students at City Academy, Bristol will be fasting together on March 10th to raise both awareness and vital funds for those suffering. By taking part in this collective fast, the school community hopes to gain a deeper understanding of the hardships faced by millions and to turn their empathy into meaningful action. We are asking friends, families, and the wider community to sponsor our fast and help us raise as much money as possible. Every donation, no matter how small, will contribute towards providing emergency food, clean water, medical supplies, and life-saving support to vulnerable families. Together this Ramadhan, we can stand in solidarity with Sudan and make a real difference to those who need it most.
