If you’ve been near City Way, Rochester in the last few days, you’ve hopefully spotted the red poppies on lamp posts. The poppies were put up by Scouts and adults from the 21st Medway Scout Group.
156 poppies have been put up on 78 lamp posts the full length of City Way, which is 1.7 miles long!
We need your help please. The suggested donation for each 41x36cm plastic poppy is £5 so we are hoping to raise £780 for the RBL Poppy Appeal. If able, please help us raise money for the Royal British Legion by making a small donation.
Please also help spread the word. Over 12,000 vehicles use City Way each day. Please share this link with family, friends, neighbours, and work colleagues – anyone who may see the poppies. Please point them to our City Way Poppies page on Just Giving. We’d really like to make this a community effort:

The red poppy is a symbol of Remembrance, and of hope for a positive future and a peaceful world. Displaying the poppies is a show of support for the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces, veterans and their families. They represent all those who lost their lives on active service, from the beginning of the First World War right up to present day.
It also honours the contribution of civilian services and the uniformed services which contribute to national peace and security and acknowledges innocent civilians who have lost their lives in conflict and acts of terrorism.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the Royal British Legion. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
The poppies were supplied by the Royal British Legion Poppy Factory in Aylesford and permission was obtained from Medway Council before putting them up.
