RIGHT – for those of you that know me, you know I’m NOT outdoorsy at all – so why have I signed up for such an outdoors event? Well to be honest, I thought initially it would be good to set myself a challenge and if there were 8 of us all doing it together then it could be a great day out and a good laugh! I must remember to look into things MORE before I say YES.

So apparently, we have got to HIKE 9 miles to the summit of Pen Y Fan, KAYAK 2 miles round Pontsticill Reservoir and, between each transition, we also have to CYCLE 36 miles!! (I didn’t even own a bike until I signed up for this!) Starting at 7am, we have to complete this circuit before the sun sets! Doesn’t sound like much of a “laugh” now does it!!!

However, I have since learned that we are doing all this for an extremely worthy charity; Action Medical Research. These spectacular bunch of humans have been raising funds and awareness of childhood cancer, premature birth and pregnancy complications and rare childhood diseases since 1952! They are on a mission to save and change children’s lives through medical research, developing treatments, vaccinations and cures. Having experienced premature birth and spending time in NICU, i know that all the aforementioned totally blows families lives apart and if we can do something to help prevent that then I’m all in!

So in short, if you can make it worth my while; swapping my cosy indoor weight sessions for outdoors rambling and my fresh nike’s for the ugliest walking boots ever! and SPONSOR me some of your hard earned pennies, then not only would I be very grateful but I KNOW that it would make an actual DIFFERENCE to soooo many families and their children!
