I'm trekking in the Sahara Desert for St Peter's Hospice

Sahara Trek 2025 · 5 February 2025 ·
October 2021 my mum was diagnosed with cancer, a returning Melanoma after 30 years clear. After a couple of different attempts at treatment we were given the devastating news that nothing was working and we were now a palliative care case. We were given the details for St. Peter’s Hospice and were allocated a key worker. Joel turned out to be our absolute lifeline.
Joel worked hard to organise pain relief, occupational therapy support, mental health services, and just on the end of the phone for me as well as mum.
At the beginning of October Mums pain became unbearable and Joel organised for mum to be admitted to the hospice in Chantry, Bristol. The care, attention and facility itself was unbelievable. We felt very fortunate to have been offered this facility at such a crucial time.
I watched my mum fight infections, battle on with the debilitating effects of her disease, determined to be as independent as she could, right to the end. Her strength through her pain was commendable.
With this in mind I have chosen a challenge that will push me to be as determined, at the same time raising money for the most amazing charity.
Your support and donations will be very much appreciated.
