Story
Given that my return to triathlon in 2025 didn't go so well, I've decided that 2026 is going to be the year of the long-distance swim. 10k is apparently the swimming equivalent of running a marathon, and I've never actually swum further than 5k in one go before. However, I (and my 'upgraded' shoulder, courtesy of the abovementioned return to triathlon) am definitely looking forward to the challenge.
The Hurly Burly is a 10k cold-water swim near Snowdonia held in mid-September. It's billed as one of the UK's wildest open water swims, with big nature, beautiful scenery, and hundreds of swimmers taking part.
As well as taking on a new challenge, I'm really happy to have a charity place and to be raising money for Level Water, which provides one-to-one swimming lessons for children with disabilities. I've loved all the things that swimming has brought to my life, and can absolutely get behind a charity that gives others the chance to learn to swim, especially children who may not otherwise have the chance. Every £15 raised gives another child a chance: swimming lessons for these children are joyful, empowering, and in some cases completely life-changing.
A huge thank you to anyone kind enough to sponsor me, and if you fancy joining me for a little swim yourself, you can sign up here:
