NASS is only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting people with axial spondyloarthritis (AS), a painful, progressive rheumatic disease which mainly affects the spine. An estimated 200,000 people live with AS in the UK. Our 90+ branches across the UK offer regular exercise to anyone with AS.

Story

I am chucking myself into mud, climbing up things, falling down things and generally getting exhausted and dirty to raise money for NASS.

I have already done a road half marathon, an off road half marathon and lots of running miles as part of a joint effort virtual "Tour of Britain" along with some amazing clinicians from across the country.

We are a group of physios and GPs from around the UK, working together to try and drive down the time to diagnosis from 8.5 to 1 year for Axial Spondyloarthritis. To celebrate the end of our two year project we have decided to embark on a virtual Tour of Britain, connecting up all our locations, and totalling 1143 miles!

We all have busy lives, with our own personal limitations, so we are sharing the load. We will cover the miles on foot, by pedal power, or in water, but we aim to finish together, at our final meeting in July, somewhere in Birmingham.

Please help us get there, and raise huge amounts for this incredible charity doing so much work to support people living with this challenging condition.

This is what we are raising money for, a debilitating disease affecting 1 in 200 of the UK population.

NASS is the only charity in the UK dedicated to transforming axial SpA (AS) care in the UK.For over 40 years we’ve been providing specialist support, advice and the most up-to-date information. We aim to empower everyone with axial spondyloarthritis (axial SpA) including ankylosing spondylitis (AS) to manage their treatment and to stay in control of their lives. We are driven to ensure that health professionals around the country deliver tailored and timely care to every patient, every time.

Axial SpA is a rheumatic inflammatory disease primarily affecting the spine and sacroiliac joints, also called ‘Morbus Bechterew’ in some European countries. It can lead to chronic pain, structural damage and disability.

Axial SpA affects millions of people around the world.

Most people have not heard of axial spondyloarthritis.
