Story

We have decided to challenge ourselves by planning and taking part in a charity firewalk in aid of Neuroendocrine Cancer UK. We want to raise £20,000 and also would like people to join us in this event. Neuroendocrine Cancer is rare it effects 7 people per 100,000 of the population each year. Most doctors and nurses have little to no knowledge of this cancer; it can often be a long and difficult road for patients to get diagnosed. The average time for a diagnosis is 5 years of visiting a GP, by this time most patients' cancer has spread and they will likely need to live with this cancer for the rest of their lives.

This is where Neuroendocrine Cancer UK comes in, they fight for better treatment and a quicker diagnosis for all patients. This is done by working with the NHS and pushing at a government level for changes. They help educate patients so they can better understand treatments and the options they have. They have also set up a link of nationwide support groups allowing patients the opportunity to meet others in a similar position and help each other through the tough times. They also support research so that one day patients will be able to live a life without Neuroendocrine cancer.

Craig has been living with this cancer for nearly 10 yrs now. With the help of Neuroendocrine Cancer UK he was given the opportunity to speak at medical conferences, raising valuable awareness of his own struggles over the last 10 yrs. He also runs a support group in Glasgow, helping patients understand this chaotic and uncertain life. 10 yrs ago we thought his life was over, thanks to this charity and the help they've given us, we've made the most of these years.

Please watch the video of this journey on this page and if you can help with a donation we would really appreciate that.

thanks Craig & Angela
