Kevin – AKA The Boss

We all have to say a big thank you to Kevin – without him, these trips simply wouldn’t happen. From planning the route to sorting the logistics, he’s the reason we all make it to the start line (and back again). This year, he’s not only doing the full ride from San Sebastián to Faro, he’s also driving all the bikes to the start and then driving back home from Portugal once we’re done – all so the rest of us can just turn up and ride.

He tells us he used to work in travel, though we’re still not quite sure what that means – possibly ran the industry single-handedly. These days, he’s supposedly taking it easy… which in Kevin terms means organising everything and spotting problems before they even happen. And if you see that smirk, it’s because he already has.

Balloons is a small charity that works alongside families and professionals to support bereaved children and young people in our area when someone significant in their lives dies.

Every time we pick up the telephone, we take a new referral, we meet a bereaved child for the first time, and we visit a grieving family – we know it matters and we know it makes a difference.
