Raising money for Balloons

Balloons provides pre and post bereavement support to children, young people and their families in Exeter, East and Mid-Devon following the death, or before an expected death, of a parent, significant carer or sibling.

Story

Riding with Love. Riding for Loss.

Every year, we take on a long, hot, and sometimes ridiculous cycling challenge , not because we have to, but because we love it. The early starts, the sore legs, the shared jokes, and the satisfaction of seeing the map fill up with miles… it’s all part of what brings us back.

This year, we’re riding from San Sebastián to Faro, over 1,000km in 13 days, through punishing heat, endless climbs, and the dry, sun baked hills of northern Spain and Portugal. It’s going to be tough, with temperatures likely to hit 35°C or more most days. But we’ve never been ones to take the easy route.

And while we’re doing something we enjoy, we also want it to mean something more.

We’re raising money for Balloons, a small and deeply caring charity that supports children and young people after the death of someone close. They step in at the darkest times with calm, compassion, and the kind of help that makes a real difference.

Grief is something no child should have to face alone. And Balloons makes sure they don’t.

So this year’s ride is for them.

If you can spare a donation, we’d be hugely grateful. And if you can share the post, it might help us reach someone else who wants to support this brilliant cause.

"Balloons is a small charity that works alongside families and professionals to support bereaved children and young people in our area when someone significant in their lives dies.

Every time we pick up the telephone, we take a new referral, we meet a bereaved child for the first time, and we visit a grieving family – we know it matters and we know it makes a difference.

Thank you for helping us to do what we do - we can assure you that every penny you donate will be used to help others."
